Dr. Joyce Harder

M.D., LMCC, FRCPC, Pediatric Cardiologist
Dr. Harder grew up in Edmonton and attended the University of Alberta in Sciences, and then Medical School. She graduated in 1974 and moved to Calgary for a residency in Pediatrics. After four years at Foothills Medical Center, she was accepted into a fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. In 1980, she moved back to Calgary and began a practice in Pediatric Cardiology. As the Alberta Children’s Hospital began to develop subspecialty pediatrics, she was invited to move her practice into the hospital to lead the development of cardiology. This included the introduction of echocardiography, the construction of an angiography suite and a steady increase in the number of cardiologists with specialized expertise. Dr. Harder continued her cardiology practice at ACH for four decades before retiring in 2021; she continues to interpret pediatric echocardiograms remotely and locally for Chinook Cardiology.
